Become a Member

By joining WWSPE, you gain meaningful influence over the policies, agreements, and practices that shape your daily business operations. Membership ensures your priorities are represented, and your voice contributes to the direction of the industry. It places you in the room where decisions are discussed, standards are refined, and strategies are developed that impact every signatory employer. If you decide not to participate, those conversations will still happen—only without your input. Others will make choices that guide the industry’s path, and your business will be expected to follow along with decisions you had no part in shaping.

Paid Training Program

The Paid Training Program, which helps employers invest in their workforce by covering wages and eligible expenses when Journeyman employees attend approved safety or skills‑based training. The program offers flexible training options through Finishing Trades Institute Northwest (FTINW), at employer shops, or via approved third‑party providers, and features a straightforward reimbursement process with payments typically issued within 30 days. Employers benefit from easy account tracking through the Member Portal, clear documentation requirements, and dedicated support from association staff to assist with training coordination and reimbursement. Additionally, the program provides defined rules and safeguards to ensure fairness, privacy, and consistency throughout the process.

Networking & Peer Support

Members connect with other signatory contractors to:

  • Share challenges
  • Discuss industry trends
  • Learn from each other
  • Build relationships that may lead to partnerships or opportunities

Being part of a community is a real value—not just financially, but strategically.

Skilled Unionized Workforce

Our WWSPE Employer Members partner with IUPAT District Council 5 and Western Washington Painters Local 300 to get direct access to the most highly skilled professional Journeyman and Apprentice Painters, Blasters, Wallpaper Hangers, Bridge & Ship Workers, and Stripers in Western Washington.  The Union and their associated training programs assure that our workforce is provided with constant access to the most current Skills and Safety training available to make them the most trained, productive and safety minded professionals in the industry.

Contract Negotiations

The Western Washington Signatory Painting Association is the official Bargaining Representative for our Member Contractors for the Negotiations and administration of the Western Washington Professional Painting Agreement and the Western Washington Residential Painting Agreement.

Instead of going it alone, employers negotiate as a group.
This means:

  • A stronger, unified voice at the bargaining table
  • Less time, stress, and cost associated with contract negotiations
  • Agreements that consider the needs of multiple employers—not just one

You essentially get a professional negotiating team to help support your business interests.

Contract Administration

Our Executive Director and Support Staff are available to assist with the interpretation and application of the terms and conditions of the various Collective Bargaining Agreements that the Western Washington Signatory Painting Employers Association actively negotiates with the Union.

Labor contracts are complex. We help employers:

  • Interpret contract language
  • Navigate disputes or grievances
  • Understand rules around pay, classifications, overtime, etc.
  • Stay compliant so they avoid costly mistakes

It’s like having an expert HR + labor relations team available when you need them.

Labor Relations

The WWSPE Executive Director along with the Board of Directors and various Associations Members that hold committee appointments are available to assist in answering your questions and connecting you with accurate information and procedures to assist in your labor relations needs.
